1500m gold this morning – 4:04.35, almost exactly what I ran last year (PR at the time) at the outdoor national meet. Good way to end a crazy season, proving my theory that if you ever think you know how the day will play out you are setting yourself up to be surprised. I had hoped to run an evenly-paced race, targeting the 4:06 range, but in the end I felt better than I expected and finished strong. Will add more details when I am not on my iPhone, but in a nutshell I patiently trailed by probably up to almost 15 meters, but my plan worked out in the end as I made up the ground to win on the homestretch.
After coming up short yesterday this was a fun win. It pretty much wraps up the track year, and gives me my 5th national title – a nice round number that if I am never fortunate enough to add to will be just fine. Cleveland to LA tonite to start a week of work, will fill in some details at the next opportunity. Send all spelling suggestions to 1-800-APPLE!
